Objective:

  1. Provide a “walk through” the FIDIC Conditions Of Contract For Construction for Building & Engineering Works and explain the pertinent provisions;
  2. Highlight the powers, duties & responsibilities of the Engineer and duties & responsibilities of the Contractor imposed upon them by this FIDIC Conditions Of Contract; and
  3. Discuss the Contractor’s claims & disputes as provided by the Contract and share some pointers containing & resolving such disputes.

3. Examining & suggesting pointers to watch in the pertinent provisions of the FIDIC Conditions of Contract For Construction including:

    Extension of Time, Force Majeure, Delay Damages, Suspension,

 

    Variations, Payment, Indemnities, Insurance, Defects Liability,

 

    Termination by Employer and Termination by Contractor,

 

    Claims & Disputes, Governing Law

4. Possible disputes  that can arise and suggested pointers to minimize or contain & to resolve such possible disputes

Mr.Lee Kwok Weng, B.Eng. (Mech.)(S'pore), M.Sc.(Ind.Eng)(NUS), DipBA(NUS), GradDip Mktg.(MIS), LLB(Hons)(Bucks), LLM(Lond), Barrister-at-Law, Advocate & Solicitor (Retired), Supreme Court of Singapore, Arbitrator & Mediator, MMIS, FIES, Honorary Legal Advisor, IES & SISO, a senior lawyer, was in continuous private legal practice for almost 29 years running his own law firm before his retirement from legal practice.

Mr. Lee is a very experienced lecturer and trainer and a much sought after speaker. He conducts teaching & training for various corporations, organizations and tertiary institutions as well as provide in-house courses for many businesses. Mr. Lee has been for many years an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Faculty of Business Administration, National University of Singapore, teaching in the MBA programme. He was also for many years, an Adjunct Lecturer the Nanyang Technological University & BCA Academy.

He specialises in Business Contracts, Negligence, Information Technology and Engineering & Building Laws. He is a very experienced lecturer and trainer and is well-versed in the technical field, marketing and management practice too.

Mr. Lee brings with this considerable industrial project and business development management experience, having worked inter alia as a project engineer with the Singapore Government and project manager in a leading multi-national engineering and construction corporation.
